I would like to start by telling you that anyone who owns an English Cream Golden Retriever has "Champion Bloodlines". ALL OF THEM HAVE THAT BECAUSE IT IS REQUIRED IN EUROPE before they will give the breeders any registrations for their litters.
We are not brokers, we raise our dogs here and have the new stock shipped in as pups and we raise them when we need a new Sire. These are English Cream Golden Retrievers. We have four generations here (the fifth will be ready to breed next year) with clearances. We have three generations of excellent ratings on the O.F.A.'s back to back. They only give out an excellent rating 3% of the time and we have them back to back for three out of four generations. We have beautiful dogs with amazing personalities and solid health history. We genetically test all of our stock and we do NOT inbreed nor line breed. It is much easier TO inbreed and line breed, but we do not consider that as a good option; you are always taking a chance with the offspring by doing so. When you breed a dog to a relative there is a huge chance that you are going to break down the genetic make up of the offspring. You are playing with the gene pool. This can cause your pup that may have had a strong immune system, to have a weaker one, they may be more prone to ear infections, cancers, allergies and a host of other issues. Often people don't understand why their "cute, sweet puppy" turned aggressive, excessively nervous or hyperactive. Many times, if you go back and look at the pedigree for your pup, you will see repetition on the same side of the pedigree. For example: The mother's father, is the same father as your pup. This means that the female was bread to her own father. There is always a high risk factor when this is done and we NEVER take the risk. This is more important than most people understand until they get a dog and find that it is unable to live in their "good" home and some need a lifetime of special care. This all being said, if you are lucky enough to get a puppy from a good breeder and they have done all they can do to start the pups off mentally and physically healthy for you, then YOUR responsibility begins when said pup leaves the breeder. Any puppy needs to be trained, and taught how you want it to live in your home. A Golden, by nature, will cause trouble if they feel they are neglected. They need a lot of attention and you need to put some work in until they are trained. This is a relatively short period of time, but it is a critical aspect of who your puppy is going to grow up to be. You can take a perfectly healthy puppy and turn it into a monster by how it is nurtured. Our Goldens are sensitive, caring and willing to learn. When you have a baby, you have to teach it; the same goes for any puppy you purchase. They don't train themselves, and if left unattended, they will most likely get into trouble.
Our pups begin life for their first 4-5 weeks in our kitchen where we can keep an eye on every aspect of their growth and make sure all are being fed equally (the bigger ones tend to push the little ones off if not watched). After they really are awake and start to begin to realize they are puppies and start to develop play skills, we move them into a gymnasium setting with playschool toys, stairs, tunnels, etc. so they can develop more and this makes them brave at an early age. Our pups are fat fluffy puppies that are happy to see new people when they come to visit. They are NEVER shy or aggressive and this is not by chance.
In the last few years we have started selling our dogs to people with disabilities because our dogs will do just about anything asked if they have the right training and are not fearful. Fear is learned later. While they are here, they are just having fun. If you purchase a pup from us, what YOU do with your pup after you get them home is critical to what type of adult dog they are going to be.
